I became obsessed with these vases when I discovered them all over the internet. They are known as “found” vases. I stumbled upon a DIY-er who had created her own from cheap, thrifted vases, spray paint and dirt. That is much more in my budget than the hundreds of dollars that the stores were asking.

I decided to give the DIY found vase a try. I went to our local thrift store, and found this vase for $1. It was originally green and it is glass. I used black, matte spray paint to start the project. Next, after letting the paint dry I used wet sand and dirt. I smeared the sand and dirt all over the pot. I let the sand and dirt dry in the sun. After it fully dried I took a paper towel and wiped the excess off, and I was left with this vase.
